10 Best Adsense Alternatives For All-Size Websites In 2023 (With Comparison)

Share

Whatever happened, the matter of Adsense alternatives is a never-ending tale. Because Google AdSense is a regular monetization option for many publishers.

Currently, programmatic advertising is growing fast, and multiple platforms exist to monetize your websites/apps. Programmatic ads help to increase publisher revenue because you can earn more than Adsense/others with multiple biddings, like header bidding, open bidding, premium demand, private market, etc.

And other innovative things, like machine learning, one-tag monetization, yield optimization, AI engine, and multiple other cutting-edge technologies and tools.

However, most ad networks have specific traffic requirements (page views of 50K, 100K, etc.). and prefer websites that receive the most traffic from the U.k., NZ, the US, etc.

For example, Mediavine requires at least 50,000 monthly sessions. Adthrive, Waytogrow, and Setupad require 100,000 monthly PV/Visits. Some require your previous income. At least $1,000 in monthly ad income is required for AdPushup and MonetizeMore.

AdSense tries to keep innovating with new ads and features, which is why people continue to use Adsense. Unfortunately, earning money with AdSense is incredibly hard, notably for beginners. You’ll need a lot of traffic/clicks to make enough money to support yourself.

Common Reasons to Find Alternatives to Adsense

I don’t care why you want AdSense alternatives, but some common reasons are:

  • Suspended or barred: this is the most common reason people try Adsense alternatives, and Google does not ban without reason; you always make a mistake accidentally or not.
  • Poor performance: this is another cause why people leave AdSense because it is based on CPC, meaning visitors need to click on ads to have something.
  • One Bid: Adsense only displays Google ads; only sometimes thriving.
  • Better alternatives: Of course, many options to Adsense work better and with more advertisers than one. Use various bidding options, such as header bidding, and the most famous are Monumetric, Mediavine, AdThrive, Setupad, etc.
  • Rejections: this is common among beginners unfamiliar with Adsense and has a lousy website and poor or illegal content, always rejected.
  • Payouts: this is not a common excuse, but AdSense’s minimum payout is high and is only paid via wire transfer, with no other payment options like PayPal.
  • Slow ads: all ads slow down your website, but Adsense is the worst. You can avoid this by using better cache plugins such as FlyingPress.
  • Limited ads: Adsense ads are attractive/respectable, but other link ads, contextual ads, video ads, etc., are not open with Adsense.

Ok, you may have some other reasons, but now is not the time to list them all.

Use Google Adsense on your site if you have decent traffic and high click-through rates. And AdSense threshold is very high at $100, so you can imagine how many clicks and impressions you will need to collect that amount. Or use native ad networks as AdSense alternatives, but they only work on specific niches.

Now better to step on to our main topic, the ideal Adsense alternative solutions.

10 Best Google Adsense Alternatives In 2023

1. Media.net

Media.net logo

Media.net is regularly at the top of the list of Adsense alternatives and is one of the world’s giant contextual ad networks managed by Yahoo/Bing. The significant uses are its excellent CPM rates and attentive contextual ads that inspire more people to click.

Here is an example.

Media.net ads example

Media.net does not limit your site based on size but needs quality. Don’t matter if you don’t get thousands of visitors per month. Even small publishers can use Media.net to make money with original content with top-tier traffic. But, I recommend applying to Media.net with at least 10,000 monthly page views.

Media.net Payments

After 30 days, Media.net will pay you. The bare minimum amount is $100. Media.net no longer accepts PayPal; the only payment options for international users to Payoneer and local users to bank transfer.

Requirement

Media.net is very serious about publisher quality and requirements. Perhaps it a too deep. They only work with high-quality sites that receive traffic from leading countries.

Media.net has not specified any minimum traffic requirement.

But you must have a high-quality website to be approved. And after that, there is an approval process, and Media.net will inform you briefly whether or not you have been approved. If you’re in, you’ll be allowed access to the platform.

Compared To Adsense

Media.net VS. Adsense

Media.net does not accept all publishers, and you must have a quality website with significant traffic from the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, and other premium countries. They provide personal account reps, no matter your website’s size. And their ads (contextual) are unique from AdSense because they are relevant to your content.

You will blame yourself if your website doesn’t fit a target niche. Media.net is suitable mainly for premium niches because most advertisers are related to the products. Otherwise, you will get little from Media.net. This is why many publishers keep AdSense.

Unlike AdSense, Media.net pays a decent share of both impressions and clicks.

Media.net doesn’t accept sites with bloated ads, even if they are AdSense compatible. So, remove other sources of monetization before getting your site approved.

Outline

Media.net is a good alternative, but it is hard to get approval if your site only receives traffic from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. You must also have a newer web design that is simple to use. It’s a large network that serves large sponsors. They address multiple types of ads and media. However, the most common is highly contextual ads.

2. Monumetric

Monumetric ad management service

Monumetric is an ad management service similar to Ezoic, Mediavine, etc. Monu has fairly requirements. To the Propel program, your site needs at least 10K page hits per month.

Your site needs to be hosted on WordPress/Blogger (That’s weird). Need to place at least six ad slots, and your traffic should arrive from the U.s, U.k., Canada, Australia, etc. Another condition is a one-time $99 fee for less than 80,000 monthly page hits (HAHA).

Monumetric propel Requirements

I am highly concerned about the induction program because once in contact, you should interact in a video chat about Monumetric and learn things (I hate that). Setup has to do with manually, and the good news is that ads have no significant page speed impact.

Ads and third-party requests can be a hardship, and display ads are the worst. However, Monumetrics use lazy load/CDN to prevent that. You can optimize with cache plugins.

Monumetric ads
Monumetric ads

Downsides?

The main drawback is the setup fee for less than 80K monthly page views publishers, which is strange because other platforms don’t charge for setup, but Monumetric does.

Also, you must have top-tier traffic and a site with English content to be accepted. I hate their one-board processes, such as video calls, manual integration, optimization times, etc. Another negative of the dashboard is that there need to be more tools for adjusting things. Any adjustments you require are shared with your admin assistant via email.

Monumetric Payments

Monumetric pays 65 days a circle and is pretty high.

The minimum threshold is 10 USD, and you can be paid via Paypal if you are a global publisher or via bank transfer if you are a US publisher. And can get through Payoneer.

Monumetric is a decent ad network for those with 10,000 or more page views who want more than AdSense. Monu CPM is improved than AdSense, but Mediavine and AdThrive perform better in CPM levels, which are challenging to access on small websites.

3. SetupAd

SetupAd

Setupad is an ad management platform similar to Mediavine, Adthrive, etc.

Setupad serves as a Header Bidding platform for many exchanges, including Google, Pubmatic, OpenX, and IEX. The least traffic requirement is 100K PV per month, but they have occasionally accepted traffic as low as 50/60K PV per month.

Payments

Setupad pays in EUR/USD. You can receive monthly payments after 60 days. The threshold is €100, and you can get it via PayPal or wire transfer. Setupad does not yield ads from a single method. They rely on multiple servers and must be paid for by those networks. Similar to Mediavine, Monumetric, etc

SetupAd ads examples
SetupAd banner ads

Differences between Setupad and Adsense

Setupad is an ad management service, and Adsense is an ad network. Both can monetize your website through ads. However, they perform in different methods.

Setupad work with header bidding where many ad Exchanges on CPM cost. Pays you for impressions, so you will be rewarded even if your viewers didn’t click on ads.

But Adsense only displays Google ads (no pricing model) and pays for viewers’ clicks. AdSense pays little for impressions and basically nothing. Sometimes pay very high rates on US, UK, and top-tier clicks; for example, I received $5/10 for one click, see here.

Any drawbacks?

Of course, SetupAd technology is less innovative than Ezoic, Mediavine, etc. You must configure and integrate every ad… and not operate optimal control tests.

That looks weird.

Another significant problem is that SetupAd needs to be more active, which you can test with your own eyes. Because they do not much use ad optimization technologies, your site will perform poorly with Core Web Vitals. Use FlyingPress to avoid it.

Setupad is a good ad management platform for reputable websites. Their system could be more innovative, but it is effective. If you are a small pub, you can’t reach them.

4. InfoLinks

InfoLinks ad network

InfoLinks is a leading ad network, one of the famous Adsense alternatives. Infolinks try to provide publishers with creative ad options while maintaining the visual impression of their websites, and it mainly focuses on contextual ads. InfoLinks Ads that are unique from others include InScreen ads, InText ads, InFrame ads, and others.

Look at some Infolinks ad examples👇

Infolinks ad examples

Infolinks has a brief approval term.

If your website meets the minimal criteria, the approval is at most three days.

Since there are no traffic requirements, it provides a fantastic chance for small sites to start quickly. However, you should follow guidelines and have a decent website with valuable content. Poor quality websites, x-rated content, false information, download files, contests, and other non-standard content are not allowed.

When it comes to payments, InfoLinks offers many options, such as Paypal, Payoneer, and Wire, with a minimum threshold of $50 and a 45-day payment schedule.

Infolinks vs. AdSense

Infolinks vs. AdSense

AdSense and Infolinks have some similarities, but AdSense is far ahead of everything, and both do not require a certain amount of traffic.

Infolink’s ad quality is not grand. However, Adsense provides very high ad quality to traffic all over the globe. Infolink’s approval process is fast, but you won’t be able to earn much revenue from them if you don’t have US/Canada/UK traffic primarily.

Despite the negatives, InfoLinks is an ideal alternative to Adsense. And some publishers use them as a backup option with AdSense or Media.net, which might harm UX/speed.

InfoLinks collaborates with other ad exchanges such as Google, OpenX, PubMatic, Criteo, Rubicon, Equativ/Xandr. As a result, you will see ads from those other than InfoLinks.

5. Anonymous Ads

Anonymous Ads

What if you have no way to monetize your website, or your website is really poor?

But I say there is an ideal solution, a crypto ad network that works with any website/niche.

Anonymous Ads, also known as A-ADS. It allows you to monetize your websites/blogs with ads and generate BTC. A-Ads does not display spam ads (pop-ups, push ads, or others) and only shows banner ads. And they don’t spot you because they don’t need your personal data. This indicates you can cooperate with them without even an email account.

That’s pretty cool, isn’t it?

A-Ads accept new and old websites, regardless of your niche, CMS, free host or not, and serves publishers worldwide. Ideal for small publishers with trimmed traffic levels. And your sites do not require verification. Simply create an ad unit and put it.

It’s too easy, but it works.

You can use the dashboard to track your Archives, page views, and revenues in real-time. Also, lightweight ads with no heavy scripts will slow down your website slightly but not significantly. However, Animation ads can have a notable hit on your website.

Anonymous Ads examples

Ok, all of those are upsides, but what about the downsides?

  • The main drawback is that payments can only be made in BTC with 0.001 BTC.
  • A-ADS only shows crypto and financial ads, despite your niche.
  • They mainly use PPC and CPA, offering meager CPM, like $0.5.
  • Display some questionable, high-risk investments and gambling ads.
  • Outdated technology won’t grow your revenue.
  • Etc., etc.

Highlight

A-ADS is not helpful for good websites or niches, but if you have websites that can’t be monetized through a reputable ad network, A-ADS can help you with minor revenue.

Don’t expect much from them because you can’t earn much with them. You can not achieve experiences like Adsense/Media.net, but it is worth a shot if no other options.

6. Clickio

Clickio Logo

Clickio is a Google-certified publishing partner network. And suitable for medium to high-traffic websites with various ad formats and features. They are an algorithmic advertising platform that experiments and continuously adapts multiple datatypes, ad sizes, and bidders to maximize revenue. Yes, similar to Mediavine, Adtrive, Ezoic, etc.

Clickio Requirement

Publishers must meet entry requirements to use Clickio, just like other platforms.

They accept publishers in two ways:

1. Previous monthly ad revenue

Your site can be accepted on Clickio even if it does not fulfill the requirements but earns more than $500 in monthly ad revenue from other ad networks, including Adsense.

2. Monthly page views

You can easily apply if your website receives 100K+ page views from the UK, France, USA, Australia, Canada, and other European states. But other regions have different minimum traffic requirements. For example, Latin America requires between 750K and 1,500K page views, while the rest of the world needs at least 300K page views.

Here’s a screenshot of the regions’ basic traffic requirements:

Clickio Requirement

Clickio content recommendations only work on websites with 500K+ page views.

Clickio Ads

Clickio has plenty of ad formats and variations, including smart banners that regularly display inside the main article of the page but can be used anywhere on the pages.

Sticky ads that show at the top and bottom of the display as the scrolls. They also provide sideways sticky, interstitial, video, content recommendations, micro, header ads, etc. These ads have good visibility and attractive layouts leading to high-income rates.

Here are some Clickio ads:

Clickio Ads

Final thoughts about Clickio

Clickio is a solid ad management option and the best Google AdSense alternative. And they have a broad selection of top ad partners, including Google Adx and Header Bidding partners like Amazon, Magnite, Criteo, Xandr, etc. And a close alternative to Mediavine, Adthrive, Setupad, or other similar platforms. But small publishers have no chance.

7. Carbon Ads

Carbon Ads

Suppose you have a web development/design/JS or another developer-friendly website. In that case, Carbon Ads is an excellent alternative to AdSense, but you will make very little money because they show very few ads on your web pages and UX-friendly stuff.

Carbon Ads requires 10,000-page hits per month before considering getting your website. Their brands focus more on the tech slot, so your dev website should be okay.

They give you peace of mind that your readers will always receive suitable ads. However, you need to generate millions of page visits monthly to make serious money with Carbon because their CPM is, at most, $2. But carbon Ads are very user-friendly and have little impact on page speed. Very engaging and unique in layout.

Here are some examples:

Carbon Ads examples

Payments

Carbon Ads pays on the 15th of every month.

The standard payment method is PayPal. The minimum threshold is USD 50. However, payments can also be made through other payment methods like wire transfers.

Outline

I only recommend Carbon if you want to make a little money with user-friendly ads. Carbon mainly works with tech brands like hostings, website builders, agencies, browsers, etc.

This isn’t even close to AdSense. Carbon is better suited as a backup than a primary revenue stream. And you cannot run another monetization platform (Ad networks) alongside Carbon. It will be a good choice if your website earns money from affiliates, sells products or services, donations, etc. Otherwise, look into more reasonable options.

8. Ezoic

Ezoic

Ezoic is no longer on my top list because onboarding is always poor, and their ads platform worked better when it was inside their DNS, and their other option is a WordPress plugin. You would not overwhelm pages with plenty of ads.

Yes, you can limit ads on your website, but your revenue will suffer.

Ezoic displays a lot of ads.
A lot of ads

Ezoic ads are extremely slow. Can use their leap app with a slew of bugs and never confront cloud caching, which is terrible. You know that many ads can result in a Google penalty. Even though SEO is becoming extremely hard, and user experience is the most critical factor, showing many ads on your site will result in a penalty.

When there are no other options, Ezoic is a good option. And has some cool features, multiple header biddings, Mediation, Big data analytics, Flickify, etc. Big data analytics is an excellent analytical tool I’ve seen, but most other Ezoic features are super bloated.

Requirement

Ezoic has no traffic requirements, so I included them on this list. But if you have 10k+ page hits per month, you can join with Ezoic-level program with some extra features.

Or, you must go with Access Now, which has limited features and no direct support.

Ezoic Requirement

Payment

I have no concerns with Ezoic Payment. You can be paid in 30 days via Paypal/Payoneer with a minimum of USD 20. That is an excellent, low threshold, and a regular schedule.

Conclusion

Suppose you want to experience programmatic ads, variable bids, ad exchanges, direct ad orders, ad categories, a plethora of ad formats, and other features with little traffic.

In that case, Ezoic is an ideal place. Ezoic is also a Google-certified publishing partner. Otherwise, consider other decent ad management solutions such as Optad360, Mediavine, Newor Media, Monumetric, Adthrive, etc. Ezoic surpasses AdSense regarding features, payments, and revenue, but AdSense is miles ahead of UX and publisher’s control.

9. BidVertiser

BidVertiser

BidVertiser is an old ad network that works as PPC and does not just monetize websites but even plug-ins, extensions, and mobile apps.

BidVertiser isn’t a contextual ad platform. Errs to match suitable ads to your website. You may experience ads that are unrelated to your website. They focus on native ads, notifications, pop-unders, direct links, and other UX-harm ads.

BidVertiser banner ads

Requirement

BidVertiser doesn’t put you in a problem. You don’t need any specific traffic requirements. The approval process is automatic, but occasionally it is reviewed manually.

If you meet their requirements, your application will be approved immediately, and you can create ad units. They, like everyone else, are strict about traffic sources. You will get a ban if most of your traffic comes from unknown sources (invalid traffic).

Other considerations

Perhaps if you have a little blog that generates little revenue, you can get paid via PayPal, Bitcoin, or wire transfer for as little as $10.

Small publishers can easily monetize their websites even in the early stage. Although they accept publishers from all over the world, most traffic offers low fill rates.

However, if your traffic originates in the U.S., the U.k., etc., you may earn some perks; otherwise, think of other options. I hate some of their ad formats, such as pop-ups, sliders, links, and XML, because they can harm your website and give it a spammy look.

But BidVertiser can be helpful for non-standard websites.

If you have a reputable website, ignore BidVertiser.

10. Reklam Store

Reklam Store

Reklam Store is a useful ad network but only works with specific traffics. For example, if you have good traffic from Middle East countries, you are welcome to Reklamstore.

Otherwise, look for another because you can only earn a little. They work similarly to most other networks with header bidding and PC/mobile ad formats. And integration with global DSPs like Appnexus, Adform, Google, and OpenX with contextual advertising

They use lazy loading & CDN to speed up ads and reduce their hit on your web page speed, yet there are still problems. It can get even worse if you use security plugins.

Reklam Store ad example

Requirements & Payments

Reklamstore doesn’t really describe any traffic requirements. However, they don’t take any sites with sexual, forbidden, and other non-standard content. Manually check each site submission. Often accept a friendly site, so you can try it even if you are a beginner.

RS allows payments through Wire, Payoneer/PayPal for a minimum of $50 within 30 days.

Compared to Adsense, there are differences. Adsense is the largest monetization platform and works with plenty of publishers. ReklamStore is limited target services. You can use it as a backup if you were hit with Adsense or beginner or traffic suits them.

ReklamStore has an affiliate platform. Even you can become an affiliater.

11. Adcash

Adcash is a prevalent ad network used by hundreds of websites globally.

This is a self-serve ad network and allows publishers around the world. But I do not recommend these types of ad networks for reputable websites because their ads are spammy and fit for niches like gossip, gambling, betting, and non-standard content.

Also, I don’t like their ad formats, pop-unders, push notifications, etc. Because they harm UX and seriously affect SEO 2023 because the user experience is more important than ever. Also, Adcash offers banners, interstitials, native ads, smart links, etc.

Adcash banner ads
Adcash banner ads

Adcash accepts all kinds of content providers, from large to small, and offers various features and resources to assist in successfully monetizing their websites.

Process for signing with Adcash

Adcash Payment

Your requests set the Adcash payment process. Users need to ask for a payout earlier in the month. The lower limit is $25 and will be paid 30 days after submitting a request. You can get paid in USD/EUR with Paypal, wire, Webmoney, etc.

That is the only reason to use Adcash (it offers payment options, even money brokers).

Adcash payment options

Adcash vs. Adsense

We can’t actually compare Adcash and Adsense because they take entirely different approaches, and Adsense is miles ahead in every way. Adcash allows any niche that does not accept AdSense, including dating, gambling, and non-standard content.

Adsense is better regarding ad quality, technology, fill rates, UX, and many other factors. Regarding payments, approval, and restrictions, Adcash is a simple platform for any niche, but it is not user-friendly, and you cannot earn much money with it.

Unless you have 10K+ page views per month, I don’t recommend spending the time to set up AdSense. There are a lot of ad networks out there, all promising the same stuff. However, you can only make a little money through them. Don’t trap to push notifications or any other harmful ad networks. They destroy your authority and UX.

Different Alternatives Of Adsense

Different Alternatives Of Adsense

You don’t always use an ad network to make money from a website because you can combine multiple strategies to generate revenue from various sources.

…here are a few other monetization approaches.

Personal ad: this can indicate various aspects, but I am primarily concerned with banner ad space. This type of revenue stream is only sometimes seen in beginners. Multiple networks allow you to sell ads, but many agreements run through conventional methods. Advertisers/agencies give little attention to small websites to place ads.

Paid Content: Sponsored content, posts, or links usually relate to a paid blog post, link, etc. It is similar to native advertising and sometimes just images. Paid content is used to monetize many blogs. Well-known blogs make a lot of money from them. Likewise, some ad networks serve as sponsored posts, but most do not operate on small sites.

Sponsored Reviews: This is simple; you are paid directly to review something on your website (typically sponsored content). You’re paid to review/write about a product or service. Web hosting companies spend a lot of money on paid reviews. You can also get free products. But if you’re small, you can only benefit a little from them.

Courses: Some training is presented online, and you get payment from your users. Yes, it is one of the trendiest ways. However, you must be a professional, and training is typically marketed to those familiar with your marketing strategy or brand.

Subscriptions: this is a long monetization option. If your membership only provides premier content, it usually requires massive content and routine updates. I’ve only seen subscription/membership work on high-traffic websites.

eBooks: you sell on your website in the type of download documents. Ebooks are complicated to deal with if you don’t have some traffic; nowadays, this is rare.

Advising: This is similar to consultancy services and is usually dependent on the niche, generally great work with the tech industry like web dev, design, etc. You must be a specialist. Consulting is hard to sell unless you are a recognized authority.

And there are plenty of other monetizing strategies you can use as AdSense alternatives, but most of them work with accurate and responsible websites. If you are just starting out, you will have to wait until you build your brand and authority.

Summary

I listed 10 ad networks/management services that truly get it. Some are big, making them hard shots, while others are small but effective.

Try reliable ad network/ad management solutions as AdSense alternatives. If you have decent traffic/content, there are multiple Google ADX partners. Never use low-quality ad networks because they can hit your website hard.

Remember that too many ads no longer work, and you can’t cross SEO and UX with so many ads/blends. Always use a happy medium and prioritize your users, and ads can result in high bounce rates because people leave websites with poor UX.

Look at these first as AdSense alternatives (Mediavine, Media.net, Publift, Monumetric, Waytogrow, OptAd360, Ezoic, Newor Media, Clickio, AdThrive, etc.).

The advertising industry change in 2023 as a result of technologies, the absence of third-party cookies, the economic crisis, and many other factors.

If you have a comment, drop it.
